Sept Mignon
As soon as you walk into this swish place in Horie, ideas creative start to bubble and bloom. Long ago forgotten daydreams with Priscilla Queen of the Desert styled fashion bling and boldness erupt in glee and grinning. I think I almost said “Kawaii” (Cuuuuute!) out loud with shrill more than once. “Kyaaaa” my feminine-ly tomboy ways said to me in secret warfare. What planet of accessory heaven had I entered I kept thinking, as I tip-toed about with giggles within, grabbing the arm of my Aussie friend way too tightly. Welcome to Sept Mignon, a land of buttons, of ribbons, of yarn, of tassles, of fabric, of razzle-dazzle, and girly-girl Barbie costume allure fantabulous.
If you can drag yourself away from the first floor sparkle, there is a cafe on the second floor, and a gallery and work space area on the third where regular craft classes are held. I recently attended my first ever crochet class here, and slowly yet successfully made two pretty coasters. I quickly learned some lovely new Japanese verbs and nouns as well.
Beginner crochet classes are being held this month
on August 18th and 29th.
In September you can take a class on
the 1st, 5th, 13th, 18th, 21st and 27th.
More advanced crochet classes, knitting classes (a Winter scarf anybody?)
and other hand made workshops are held monthly in Japanese.
Take a look at the website in Japanese for a more detailed look at the various workshops available.
There is also a free workshop time where you can come and knit or crochet as you like; maybe even make yourself an “Ami Tomo” (Knittting Friend).
Sept Mignon is open daily from 11:00 – 20:00.
The second floor cafe is open from 11:00 - 21:00.
The shop is located just near Horie Park. It's about a 5-minute walk from Exit 6 of Subway Yotsubashi station.
If you are coming in from Nagahori Tsurumi Ryokuchi Line, get off at Nishi Ohashi stop, and from there it is also a mere 5-minute walk away.
Scroll down to 'About shop' at the following link, and click on the English word ' MAP' for a Japanese access map.
